Dhaka Bureau: State Minister for Religion Faridul Haque Khan said that the country’s quota of potential Haj pilgrims in 2023 is 1 lakh 27 thousand 198 people.
He gave this information in response to a question of M. Abdul Ratif during the question and answer session in the National Parliament on Sunday (January 8). Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury was presiding over the parliament.
The State Minister of Religion said that the number of pilgrims in 2009 was 58 thousand 628, which increased to 126 thousand 923 in 2019. But due to the Corona situation, the number of Haj pilgrims decreased to 60 thousand 146 in 2022.
He said that the potential quota of Haj pilgrims in 2023 is increasing to 1 lakh 27 thousand 198 people. State Minister said that it has increased by 148 percent compared to 2009, which is a milestone of the government’s success.
