3-day tourism fair begins in Chittagong

Own Correspondent: A three-day tourism fair has started in the port city of Chittagong. Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism officially inaugurated the tourism fair at Dalia Hall of The Peninsula Chittagong on Thursday (January 5). Mahbub Ali

Minister of State inaugurated the tourism fair. Mahbub Ali said, “There are about 1700 tourist spots in our country which is a paradise of immense beauty of nature. There are diverse and rich tourism products. There is also breathtaking natural beauty, rich history, diverse culture, multifaceted lifestyle and warm hospitality. But these issues are rarely highlighted in domestic and foreign media. People are less informed. As a result, the growing tourism industry is slowing down. Therefore, the diversity and beauty of the scenic spots surrounded by mountains, plains, forests, sea-ocean valleys should be highlighted through all means.

The 13th tourism fair titled ‘Air Astra Chittagong Travel Mart 2023’ is organized by leading travel and tourism publication Bangladesh Monitor. Air Astra, the newest private sector airline, is assisting as the title sponsor of the event. In this 13th tourism fair in Chittagong, 24 companies from home and abroad presented their products and services at 30 stalls.

Participants include world famous tours and travels, airlines, tour operators, hotel resorts, online travel agencies, hospitals and healthcare providers, immigration companies and other travel and tourism related service providers.

A raffle draw is organized daily at the fair for the visitors of the fair. Raffle prizes include return air tickets to domestic and international destinations, hotel and resort accommodation, etc.

Monitor editor Kazi Wahidul Alam was present among others at the opening ceremony. Chittagong Chamber Director Anjan Shekhar Das, Tourist Police Additional Superintendent of Police Hasan Iqbal, Air Astra CEO Imran Asif, US Bengal Manager Kamrul Islam, Bamrungrad Hospital Marketing Head Anna May Dial etc.
