Dhaka Bureau: BNP Member of Parliament from Chapainawabganj-3 Constituency Haroon Or Rashid has resigned from the National Parliament. On Thursday at 11 o’clock, the Speaker appeared in Parliament. He submitted his resignation letter to Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. Through this, the resignation of all BNP party members from the National Parliament was confirmed.

At the time of resignation, Harun was accompanied by recently resigned former parliamentarians Mosharraf Hossain and GM Siraj. After submitting his resignation letter, Haroon Or Rashid said that currently the country is not being run according to the law and constitution. There is no opposition party in the national parliament now.

He said, according to the decision of our assembly, seven MPs of BNP submitted their resignations to the National Assembly. But my resignation was not accepted as I was out of the country. I came home on Wednesday night and submitted my resignation today to the Honorable Speaker of the National Assembly.

Criticizing the parliament, he said that the current parliament has become the party office of the grand coalition government. This parliament should be dissolved immediately. Elections should be held under a neutral government. Calling on the partners of the Grand Alliance to resign, he said that the government wants to score goals in an empty field. If BNP and its allies do not participate in the next elections, there will be no meaningful elections in the country.

He referred to the resignation of BNP MPs from Parliament as a message of protest against the government’s policy of repression and torture. BNP had seven MPs in the current 11th National Parliament. On December 10, they announced their resignation from BNP’s departmental public meeting in Dhaka. The next day on December 11, five members of the party went to Parliament and submitted their resignations. Barrister Rumin Farhana submitted his resignation on behalf of another as he was ill. At that time, Harun could not submit his resignation letter because he was abroad.
