Dhaka Bureau: The closing ceremony of the Aviation Basic Course-12 conducted under the overall supervision of the Aviation School under the Army Aviation Group was held today Monday (October 31) at the Army Aviation Group in Tejgaon.
Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, SBP, OSP, NDU, PSC, PhD attended the ceremony as the chief guest and gave certificates to the new army pilots and taught them flying brevets.
Chief of General Staff of the Army Lt. Gen. Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, SBP, SGP, NDC, AFWC, PSC, Ph.D. was present at this time; Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, BPM (Bar), PPM; Assistant Chief of Naval Operations Rear Admiral M Mozammel Haque, OSP, NUP, NDC, PSC and Commander Air Force Base Bashar Air Vice Marshal Md Zahidur Rahman, BSP, GUP, NSWC, PSC, GD(P) and Group Commander, Army Aviation Group Major General IKM Mostahsenul Baki, NDC, AFWC, PSC along with senior military and civilian officers of the army.
Initiated with the motto ‘Gati O Nipunta’, the only aviation institution of the Bangladesh Army, the Army Aviation Group has been conducting flying training for young military and police officers since its inception on January 01, 1981. In continuation of this, a total of 10 young people of Army, Navy and Bangladesh Police Force participated in the training of Aviation Basic Course-12 from last July 04, 2021.
From its inception till date, this institute has trained a total of 134 officers including officers of army, navy and police force as pilots. After successfully passing theoretical training, each student successfully completes basic military flight training, culminating in 05 Army trainees flying 70 hours in Cessna-152 Aerobat aircraft and Navy and Police trainees flying 70 hours in Diamond DA-40NG aircraft.
Captain Md. Abu Talha Arefin, ASC was selected as the best pilot among all trainees of Cessna-152 Aerobat aircraft and Assistant Commissioner of Police Md. Sarwar Hossain was selected as the best pilot of Diamond DA-40NG aircraft.
It may be noted that this flight training is conducted from temporary camps at Tejgaon Old Airport, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and Rajshahi and Syedpur Airports outside Dhaka.
