Lohagara Correspondent: A youth named Abu Chayed (25) was arrested by the mob on the charge of stealing the passport and air ticket of a foreigner in Lohagara of South Chittagong.
On Wednesday, December 21 at 11 a.m., the incident of robbery took place on Darbeshat DC Road on the north side of South Sukhchhari Khalekiya Madrasa of Upazila Sadar Union. The mob handed over the detained person to the police of Lohagara police station. The police recovered the foreigner’s passport and flight ticket. Atiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Lohagara police station, handed over the passport and flight ticket to foreigner Shahjahan (28).
Foreigner Shahjahan is the son of Abdul Alim of Naya Para in Ward No. 8 of Putibila Union of Lohagara Upazila. On the morning of the incident, Shahjahan left his residence for Saudi Arabia. When he reached the spot in a CNG autorickshaw with his companion, a group stopped the car and identified themselves as police. At one point, the robbers snatched the passenger’s passport and air ticket bags and ran away with lathis and sharp weapons. The mob then chased and arrested Abu Syed, a member of the robber’s group.
Later, the police recovered the passport and plane ticket from the residence of another member of the robbery group. The detained Abu Chayed is the son of Abdul Sukkur of Gholam Mohammad neighborhood in South Sukhchari village in Lohagara union. Necessary measures are being taken in this regard, police said.
