Dhaka Bureau: The government has decided to give free fertilizer and seeds to 27 lakh farmers in the upcoming Boro season. A total of 170 crores of incentives will be given to increase the cultivation and production of paddy in this season. The Ministry of Agriculture announced this information in a circular on Tuesday (December 20).
According to the notification, 1.5 lakh farmers are being given 2 kg of seed free of charge under the incentive of about 82 crore rupees to increase the production of hybrid rice. Fertilizers and seeds are being provided to 1.2 lakh farmers to increase the production of high-yielding varieties, at an expenditure of around Tk 73 crore.
The notification also said that under the incentive, a farmer will get 5 kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer required for cultivation in his one bigha of land for free.
Apart from this, an incentive of 15 crore rupees will also be given for planting and harvesting paddy. For this, 110 blocks or exhibitions will be created in 61 districts. Each exhibition will be on 50 acres of land, the cost will be 13 lakh 70 thousand taka.
According to the notification, this incentive is being given from the agriculture rehabilitation support sector in the regular budget of the Ministry of Agriculture. 50 percent of these incentives have already been distributed at the field level. Rest of the works are also ongoing.
