Dhaka Bureau: Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal commented why there is no chance of fake vote in Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). He made this comment while talking to reporters at Rangpur District Art Academy Auditorium on Monday (December 12) night.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) said that there is no problem with EVMs, rather free and fair elections are possible with EVMs. Voting in EVMs is easy. Candidates and voters have confidence in EVMs in Rangpur City Corporation elections as well. Otherwise no one would have participated in the elections.
Rangpur City elections will be free and fair. To make it successful, political parties, candidates and workers need full cooperation.
In response to a question from journalists, the CEC said that action will be taken against the presiding officers if there is any bias. Because good or bad in the election depends on the presiding officer. They use their maximum power. If you want to stop the election, stop it. If this can be done, it is possible to conduct the election properly.
The CEC also said that the concerned officials have been instructed to keep an eye on whether the candidates are violating the election code of conduct.
Regarding the Gaibandha election, the CEC said that the cancellation of the election on the basis of irregularities does not seem to have happened before. Action has been taken against those involved in irregularities.
