Dhaka Bureau: Chairman of NAP Bhasani, Bangadwip MA Bhasani, has demanded to cancel the provision of registration of parties after five years in the National Assembly elections.
Bangladeshi MA Bhasani made this demand in front of National Press Club on Monday morning (December 12) during a human chain and rally on the occasion of Maulana Bhasani’s 142nd birth anniversary under the title ‘Moulana Bhasani’s Mantra, Poverty, Unemployment Eradication’.
He said, our independence has come without registration, so far there have been eight parliamentary elections. For this reason, 10 districts and 25 upazila committees should be given the opportunity to register political parties. Registration is an ongoing process and updated. Any time any party fulfills its conditions, that party claims to be registered. The rally was organized by Nap Bhasani and Voter Manch.
At that time, the gathering demanded to observe Maulana Bhasani’s death anniversary on November 17 and birth anniversary on December 12.
Nap Bhasani chairman also said that the provision of registration every 5 years should be abolished here. A party qualified to field 300 seats and a party fielding less than 30 seats can never have the same conditions. A distinction must be made here. Therefore, the participation of all parties has become inevitable in terms of simplifying the registration process.
From the rally, seven demands were made by Nap Bhasani and Voter Manch on the occasion of the upcoming elections. The demands include – To make the election free and meaningful, a joint operation involving the people and the army should be carried out to recover illegal weapons. Instead of DCs and UNOs, District and Upazila Election Officers should be given the responsibility of Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers. 100 volunteers should be recruited from various groups along with the law and order forces to prevent center encroachment and vote robbery. Provision of voter card like ration card should be kept to prevent fake vote, besides many times the candidate nomination is not correct so the provision of ‘no’ vote should be reintroduced.
