Dhaka Bureau: Dream Metrorail is starting its journey in the last week of December. The movement of Uttara to Agargaon section will start. Along with this, the construction of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) depot is also underway to transport passengers from Agargaon Metrorail station. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will participate in the inauguration ceremony. MAN Siddique, managing director of the Metrorail (MRT) project, gave this information on Monday (December 12).
MRT Managing Director MAN Siddique said that metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon section will run in the last week of December. Construction of 20.10 km metro rail from Uttara to Motijheel is underway. Only the Uttara to Agargaon section of metro rail will run in late December and initially the number of passengers will be low.
After the launch of Metrorail, BRTC depot is being built in the station area to transport passengers from Agargaon in the capital. Initially as the passengers have to get down from Uttara to Agargaon. So BRTC bus service is added to handle this pressure.
BRTC chairman Tajul Islam told the media that for the time being, since the metro rail is coming up to Agargaon, we have made this arrangement (bus) to deliver the passengers to a specific place. In fact, the metro rail will go completely up to Kamalapur. Our main goal is to deliver the passengers to their destination. Buses are arranged so that those who will travel by Metrorail do not have any problem to get down from the station and reach other places, so that they can go back and forth quickly without suffering. If the number of passengers is more, then the number of cars will also be increased. Besides, private transport will also be connected.
