M. Anwarul Haque. Anwara: Tri-annual conference of Upazila Awami League is being held in Anwara after a century and a half. This conference will be held at Anwara Government High School ground next Saturday at two o’clock in the afternoon. There is a strong feeling among the activists around the conference. Enthusiasm has been created among leaders and workers at the field level.
Meanwhile, around the conference, banners, festoons, billboards with pictures of leaders are covering the main road of Anwara upazila. A huge pandal is being prepared across the school grounds. Private Assistant Secretary of Land Minister Ridwanul Karim Chowdhury Sayem is continuously monitoring the success of the conference. He visited the field several times.
Giving instructions to various sub-committees formed on the occasion of the conference. Zilla Parishad member SM Alamgir Chowdhury has convened a preparatory committee for the conference. On the other hand, the impact of the conference of Upazila Awami League is being observed among the organ organizations and professional organizations. Jubo League, Chhatra League, Sramik League, Mahila Awami League are said to be preparing in various ways to attend the conference.
Land Minister Alhaj Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed MP will be the chief guest in the conference.
Deputy Publicity Secretary of Central Awami League Executive Committee Aminul Islam Amin will be the special guest, MPs from various constituencies of Chittagong will be there. It is also known that the central and district Awami League leaders will be present in the conference.
Ahead of the conference, there is speculation among the activists about who is coming to the post of president and general secretary. But no one can say anything for sure. There is also doubt among the activists whether there will be any change in the positions of president and general secretary.
Those whose names are being heard for the post of president are the current president Prof. MA Mannan Chowdhury, the senior vice president of Upazila Awami League SM Alamgir Chowdhury, the upazila chairman Touhidul Haque Chowdhury, besides the general secretary of Upazila Sramik League Md. Syed is believed to be a candidate for the post of president.
Current General Secretary MA Malek, Upazila Awami League Vice President Zafar Uddin Chowdhury, Joint General Secretary Fazlul Karim Chowdhury Babul, Bairag UP Chairman Nawab Ali, Upazila Sramik League President Mohammad Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, Joint Secretary Sugrib Majumdar Dolan, Former UP Chairman Yasin Hero, besides Barshat UP Chairman MA Qayyum Shah are also being heard.
Anwara Upazila Awami League President Professor MA Mannan Chowdhury and General Secretary MA Malek called upon the leaders and activists of all levels to make the conference a success.
