Bandarban Correspondent: Ban on domestic and foreign tourist travel in Ruma, Rowangchari and Thanchi upazilas of Bandarban has been extended till December 11. Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Yachmin Parveen Tibriji confirmed this information on Monday (December 5). Earlier, the matter was informed in a public notice signed by Administrator Yachmin Parveen Tibriji.
In the last public notification issued on November 27, only the ban on tourist travel in Ruma and Rowangchari upazilas was in force until December 4. Thanchi Upazila was also included under the ban in the public notice published on Saturday.
It has been reported that since October 10, the anti-terror operation of joint forces started in the bordering hilly areas of Thanchi, Ruma, Rowangchari and Alikadam upazilas of Bandarban district. At this time, the local administration issued a temporary ban on the travel of tourists due to the safety of the Sarashi campaign. First, indefinite ban started in Ruma and Rowangchari upazilas of Bandarban from last October 18. Later, from October 23 to October 30, Alikadam and Thanchi upazilas again imposed restrictions on the travel of tourists. The travel ban was extended from October 30 to November 4. Apart from this, travel restrictions were extended to four upazilas of Bandarban from November 4 to November 8 by issuing a public notification.
From November 8 to November 12, the administration banned the travel of tourists in Ruma, Rowangchari, Thanchi upazilas of Bandarban district. Later, from November 12 to November 16, the ban on tourist travel was increased in Rowangchari, Thanchi and Ruma upazilas in the 6th phase. Apart from this, in the 7th phase, the ban was extended in Rowangchari and Ruma upazilas from November 16 to November 20. Later, in the 8th phase (November 20), the district administration issued a public notification extending the ban on the travel of tourists to Rawangchari and Ruma upazilas of Bandarban until November 27. Later, in the 9th phase, the ban on the travel of all local and foreign tourists was increased from November 27 to December 4 in Rawangchari and Ruma upazilas.
Last December 3 in the evening, the local administration extended the travel ban for tourists in Rawangchari, Ruma and Thanchi upazilas of Bandarban till December 11.
Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban Yachmin Parveen Tibriji said that a temporary ban on the travel of tourists has been issued due to security considerations. The ban on the travel of all domestic and foreign tourists has been extended to Rowangchari, Thanchi and Ruma upazilas of Bandarban till December 11.
