The Crime Desk: A video of a young man in Gazipur’s Sreepur firing blanks while raising a pistol has gone viral on social media. The video shows a young man (wearing a shirt) standing on the roof of an under-construction building and firing a pistol towards the sky.
The video has recently gone viral on social media. Discussion and criticism have started after the video went viral. Locals have demanded that the accused be brought to justice immediately.
According to local sources, the name of the accused youth is Tehim Matbar. He is the son of Jamal Uddin Jamal, a drug seller from Dakshin Dhanua village of Gazipur union in the upazila. Tehim is the leader of a local teenage gang. Under his leadership, a group of at least 15-20 people move around the area with force. Tehim is accused of being involved in various crimes including robbery, intimidation, gang attacks, beatings, and extortion.
However, Tehim is absconding after the video went viral on social media.

Local resident Kalim Uddin said that Tehim was involved in a matter 2/3 days ago. I complained about the matter to his family. Due to this, he brought his associates and tried to kill me. At that time, he shot me with a pistol and threatened to tear my chest and take my daughter away. Since then, I have been living in fear.
Another neighbor, who did not disclose his name, said that Tehim has a pistol. He is creating terror in the area by defaming local political leaders. He has shared videos of him showing a pistol on various occasions on his Facebook ID. No one has complained about these matters out of fear of him. However, now that the latest video has gone viral, many have started speaking out against him. The law enforcement agencies need to take a strict stand on this matter.
Sreepur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Barik said that as soon as the matter came to light, multiple police teams started working. Currently, efforts are being made to arrest the accused. Legal action will be taken in this regard.
