Shabnam Faria stood for the students in the mass uprising last year. But she was deeply hurt by the behavior of some people. Not only that, she is also known as a very brazen and shameless nation. On Wednesday (June 18), Shabnam Faria gave a long status on her Facebook. There, the actress sometimes expressed pride, sometimes anger.
Shabnam Faria started writing with a story. He writes, “There is a story about an imam and a thief on a winter morning! The imam thinks, What a good man has come to pray Fajr in this cold. The thief thinks, What a gentleman! He keeps his beard and steals again! What did we learn from this story? We learned that, like, whose thoughts are like, others also think they are the same!”
Shabnam Faria claims that not all people in the world sell their principles for money. According to her, “I believe that not all people in the world sell their ‘ethics’ to ‘money’ (you can also read dollars). Money is not ‘everything’ to ‘all people’ in the world. But people believe in their own individuality! They go against the flow! They take risks!”
Describing an incident during the mass uprising, Shabnam Faria writes, “When the movement was at its peak in June, after the internet went down, I was one of the celebrities who were asked to make a video to protest the burning of Metrorail/BTV. I first asked for time; I said I would think about it! Naturally, I couldn’t muster the courage to not direct at that time. They also said they would take time; there is no internet at the moment. Since WhatsApp is down, I still sent a direct message to Siam. Did you get the call from ‘S’ brother? He replied, ‘Yes, I got it, and I said no.’ Then I got the courage, and I also said no.”
Shabnam Faria wrote, explaining the reason for publishing this incident, “I had no intention of saying these things unnecessarily! At that time, this was what was supposed to be done; I did not want to take any special credit for saying no. Since I am personally not involved in politics directly or indirectly, and I have no intention or plan to do so in the near future, when I see someone writing, ‘They are eating dollars’ is a fictional story, there is nothing to do but laugh. Brother, I know many people who love the Awami League from the bottom of their hearts, but they gave us a red DP in July! Maybe July is not the same as it was portrayed to our common people at that time, but if you were a human being at that time, not an inhuman, then you could not have protested against the killing of a person, whatever your political identity or ideology!”
Shabnam Faria will not give any political status again. Explaining her reason, the actress wrote, “I stopped giving statuses about Bangladeshi politics with this status! Because I have finally understood that as a nation, we are very brazen and shameless, we will never get better, no matter how many movements there are, how many governments change, or how many Nobel Peace Prize winners come. No one can stop us from corruption and theft! Children, teenagers, and the elderly will use the power they get dishonestly. I no longer have any expectations from my own country! Finally, I want to say, it would have been nice if I had actually received dollars! It was very difficult to endorse $200 in my passport with 25,300 taka before going to Sri Lanka.”
