The Crime Desk: Many people do not have the intelligence of cows, claimed Farida Akhtar, advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. She said that cows and goats do not eat tobacco leaves. Many people eat them even though they know it is harmful. She said this at a discussion meeting organized at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Saturday (May 31) to mark World No Tobacco Day 2025.
Fisheries and Livestock Advisor Farida Akhtar said that in our country, men’s smoking has been normalized. It is considered indecent in front of adults. Currently, e-cigarettes have been legalized. It is presented in such a way that the Bangladesh government runs on the money of tobacco companies. This is wrong information. Our government runs on the money of the people.
She said that many people do not have the intelligence of our cows. Because cows and goats do not eat tobacco leaves.
Praising the youth, the fisheries advisor said, “Tobacco companies will not do business in Bangladesh by targeting the youth who have overthrown such a big government. I hope our youth will stop this destruction by tobacco companies.”
He said, These tobacco companies choose riverbanks for tobacco cultivation. This is reducing fish reproduction. Cattle farming is also being affected. Human reproduction is also being affected.
Special Assistant Professor Md. Sayedur Rahman, Chief Advisor in charge of the Ministry of Health, said, “Smoking is the gateway to all addictions. Tobacco companies research and create their markets. Yet we are not able to take much initiative to save our children.”
The main role of the Ministry of Education in the fight against smoking is played by. There is no question about this tobacco in our education system or exams. There is not even a paragraph in the textbook. It is sad.
He said, “The influence of tobacco companies has gradually affected the state. Strength is needed to fight against this.”
