The Crime Desk: Indian drones were once again seen flying in Bangladeshi airspace at the historic Baraibari border in Roumari upazila of Kurigram. On Friday (May 30), around 8 pm, four drones were seen flying 500 meters inside Bangladesh on that border.

Lieutenant Colonel Hasanur Rahman, commander of Jamalpur BGB 35 Battalion, which is in charge of that border, confirmed this information in a short message. However, no official statement from the BGB was received on this.

Locals say that BSF members under the Kakripada BSF camp in the Indian state of Assam sent four drones inside Bangladesh on Friday night. These drones circled in the skies of Baraibari and Barbanda villages in Roumari upazila for about half an hour. The BSF is flying these drones to monitor and spread panic among Bangladeshis. Earlier on May 27, the BSF flew a drone in Bangladesh’s airspace on the same border.

BGB sources said that four Indian drones circled 500 meters inside Bangladesh near the international pillar 1067 (1S) of the border for 30 minutes from 8:15 pm to 9:45 pm on Friday night. When contacted, the BSF denied this.

The source also said that no one other than the BSF has the opportunity to fly these drones. Because they perform duties up to 200 yards of the border. There is no opportunity for ordinary people to fly these drones without their attention. But the BSF does not accept responsibility.

Firoz Mia, UP member of Ward No. 6 of Roumari Sadar Union, said, ‘Since the BSF pushed 14 Indian citizens of Assam through the 1067 main pillar of the Baraibari border on May 27, India has been trying to monitor Bangladesh in various ways. That day too, they sent drones to the Bangladesh border. Around 8 pm on Friday, 4-5 Indian drones were flying in the sky of Baraibari and Barbanda villages in Bangladesh. The drones also came near the Baraibari BGB camp.

“I condemn such behavior of India. India is behaving hostilely towards Bangladesh. We want a state-level remedy for this,” this UP member protested.

In this regard, Supreme Court lawyer Ishrat Hasan said, “No country can use the waters, land, or airspace of another country without legal permission. This is a clear violation of international law. The United Nations has clear guidelines on the use of weapons or technology at the border. India cannot fly drones in Bangladesh’s airspace like this. This is a clear violation of international law, human rights, and bilateral agreements. Bangladesh can increase diplomatic contacts to stop these misdeeds of India and, if necessary, go to the United Nations by collecting irrefutable evidence.”
