Since 4:30 am today, Wednesday, the BGB has detained a total of 66 Indian nationals: 15 from the Matiranga Taindong border, 27 from the Shantipur border of Gomti Union, and 24 from the Rupsen Para border of Logan Union in Panchhari, on charges of infiltration.
Khagrachhari Acting District Administration Nazmun Ara Sultana said that as of the latest news, 66 Indian nationals have been infiltrated. The BGB is looking into the matter. They are under their jurisdiction. The local administration and police are in constant contact with the BGB. We are trying to push them back quickly.
On Wednesday morning, 27 Indians infiltrated from the Shantipur border of the 40th BGB Khedachhara Battalion. After infiltration, they stayed at the house of Abul Master in Hajipara, Gomti Union. After receiving information from locals, a BGB patrol team arrested them.
The arrested persons claimed to be residents of Gujarat, and it is learned that they were brought to the border by plane from Gujarat and then infiltrated into Bangladesh through the Shantipur border by BSF members. The arrested persons are Bengali speakers.
