55 fishermen returned from the clutches of the Arakan Army

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has brought back 55 fishermen who were detained by Myanmar’s armed organization Arakan Army while fishing from the Teknaf coastal area of ​​Cox’s Bazar.

They were brought back through Shahparir Island Jetty at around 1 pm on Wednesday (April 16). The administration said that 13 of the fishermen brought back are Bangladeshi citizens and 42 are Rohingya.

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Ehsan confirmed the matter and said, “55 fishermen who were detained by the Arakan Army at different times while fishing in the Naf River and Bay of Bengal have been brought back with the help of the BGB. Their primary treatment and information are being verified. After verification, they will be handed over to their families according to the legal process.”
