The Crime Desk: 20,000 people of the area are being held hostage by Ataur Rahman Bahini, the son of Syed of Ward No. 8 in Sheikherkhil Union of Banshkhali Upazila.
It is known that MR. Morshed, a resident of Sheikherkhil Union, has been cultivating his mother’s 4 kani salt land with sharecroppers for a long time.
Yesterday, Monday, 15-3-2025, Ataur Rahman and his army looted 800 maunds of salt and took away this Morshed. When Morshed stopped him, he was beaten with an iron rod indiscriminately. Morshed fell to the ground and fled, thinking him dead. Meanwhile, the people of the area admitted Morshed to the hospital. Morshed filed a case in this regard, accusing several people of attacking Rahman Bahini.
Sources in the area say that Ataur Rahman has a huge army and that Ataur Rahman, the head of the army, does not commit any such crime or misdeed. In the area, he is carrying out all the misdeeds, including moonshining, land grabbing, selling yaba, selling domestically brewed liquor, and harassing women.
If anyone speaks out against this Ataur Rahman army in the area, inhuman torture comes down; as a result, no one dares to speak out. There are multiple cases against this army and its head, Ataur Rahman, in the Banshkhali police station and in the court.
It is also known that Ataur Rahman, the head of this Rahman army, was previously a member of the Sheikherkhil Union Awami League committee, and after July 5, he turned around overnight and is continuing these misdeeds with the help of a leader of the Banshkhali BNP.
The locals have strongly demanded that the Yaba emperor Ataur Rahman be brought under the law and brought to justice. When asked about Ataur Rahman’s work on this issue, he said that these are lies being spread against me.
