The Crime Desk: Former coordinator Abu Baker Majumdar had announced that a new student organization would emerge today after leaving the anti-discrimination student movement. But before the student organization was announced, a group started a procession claiming that there had been ‘discrimination.’.
The incident took place in front of the Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University around 4 pm on Wednesday (February 26).
The students claim that they are protesting because former coordinator Rifat Rashid was not given an important central position. In addition, they claim that they rebelled because committees were not given in Uttara East and West.
At that time, the students were seen chanting slogans such as “There is no place for discrimination in my golden Bengal, I have given blood, I will give more blood, Justice Justice, We Want Justice, Rifat Rashid is not afraid, I have not left the road,” etc.
A student named Manjurul Islam said that the anti-discrimination movement has not yet been given committees in Uttara East and West. They now want to announce a new party. This is definitely discrimination.
Another protesting student said, “You all know the role of Rifat Rashid during the anti-discrimination student movement. If any committee is formed without him, it can never be with our mandate.”
Earlier, a new student organization, ‘Bangladesh Democratic Students’ Union,’ emerged with former coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement. Abu Baker Majumder and member secretary Zahid Ahsan have been appointed as the conveners of the organization.
This student organization is led by former leaders of ‘Democratic Students’ Power.’. Some students, including Akhtar Hossain, announced the student organization under the name Democratic Students’ Power Bangladesh on October 4, 2023. On September 14, 2024, the organization suspended its activities and declared the committee dissolved.
