The Crime Desk: Arabi Islam Suba, 11, came to Dhaka from Barisal two months ago for treatment of his mother suffering from lung cancer. On Sunday (January 2), he went missing while crossing the road in the capital’s Mohammadpur area after leaving home with his younger cousin around 6 pm. Suba is a sixth-grade student at a school in Barisal.
CCTV footage from Tokyo Square shows Suba, his cousin, and another boy entering the market. Suba was holding the boy’s hand, and the boy had a shopping bag in his other hand. They entered the shopping mall while talking. Later, they were seen leaving from there.
Footage from another camera shows Suba, his brother, and the boy with him walking in front of Tokyo Square in Mohammadpur. Later, Suba’s cousin confirmed that they were the ones seen in the footage.
Meanwhile, Suba’s father, Imran Rajib, filed a general diary (GD) with the police station on Monday (February 3) evening regarding the disappearance of the teenager.
It is learned that Suba’s mother recently started chemotherapy at the National Cancer Research Institute and Hospital. That is why Suba’s mother took Suba to a relative’s house near the Krishi Market in Mohammadpur four days ago. Suba left the house with her cousin around 6 pm on Sunday. While crossing the road in the Prince Bazar area of the Krishi Market area, her brother overtook a car. After that, Suba did not reach home.
Suba’s father, Imran Rajib, said, “Suba is in sixth grade at a school in Barisal. I have been at my sister’s (Suba’s aunt) house in Dhaka for two months for my wife’s cancer treatment. I have filed a GD with the police station regarding Suba’s disappearance. The police said they are trying.”
Meanwhile, Suba was seen in Naogaon after she disappeared from Mohammadpur. However, she escaped from there too after sensing the presence of the police. This information was given by Mohammadpur Police Station ADC Jewel Rana. He said that CCTV analysis began after Suba’s father, Imran Rajib, filed a general diary. There, Suba was seen talking to a boy. Later, she went to that boy’s house in Naogaon.
He said that Suba went to Naogaon with that boy. His name is Momin Hossain. Suba went there for love reasons. The police have not been able to rescue him yet. However, the police have contacted the boy’s parents and uncles. Their cooperation has been sought so that the two cannot escape.
