The Crime Desk: Three youths lost their lives in a motorcycle accident on their way home after seeing the Saraswati Puja in Feni. They were friends.
The deceased are Debu Vaishnav (22), son of Manoranjan Vaishnav of Birahimpur village of Sirajpur union of Companiganj upazila of Noakhali district; Antar Ghosh (20), son of Krishna Ghosh; and Saurabh Goswami (22), son of Krishna Vaishnav of Alipur area of Begumganj municipality.
According to local sources, they were returning to their locality, Noakhali, on a motorcycle after seeing the Saraswati Puja in Feni on Sunday (February 3). On the way, they met with an accident at around 8:30 pm in the Daganbhuiyan Baker Bazar area of Feni on the Feni-Noakhali regional highway.
Eyewitnesses living at the scene of the accident said that the three of them were heading towards Noakhali on a motorcycle. Their motorcycle was trying to overtake a truck before Benker Bazar at a reckless speed. At that time, the motorcycle lost control and hit the trunk of a sawmill tree left on the side of the road. The three riders fell on the road. Two of them died on the spot. They took one of the injured to the 250-bed General Hospital in Feni, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Upon receiving the news, the family and relatives of the deceased reached the hospital around 10 pm. At that time, the surrounding atmosphere became heavy with their cries. The family of the deceased said that Debu Vaishnav was a student of Basurhat Government Mujib College in Noakhali.
Feni Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Saqayet Hossain said that according to the inspection of the scene and information from local eyewitnesses, the accident occurred after the motorcycle lost control due to excessive speed.
