The Crime Desk: The Election Commission (EC) has collected information on over 4.7 million citizens in the door-to-door voter list update process. Of these, 3.745 million are new voters. And the names of 1.039 million are dead voters.
On the last day of data collection on Monday (February 3), National Identity Registration Division Director General ASM Humayun Kabir told the media.
He said, We have collected information on 1.039 million dead voters till Sunday, February 2. And we have collected information on 3.745 million new voters. Monday’s data has not been added yet. Therefore, this number may increase or decrease, he added.
The Election Commission started collecting information for the voter list update by going door-to-door on January 20. Monday (February 3) was the last day for data collection.
Then, the work of taking photographs, fingerprints, and iris scans will begin on February 5, which will continue until April 11. After the preparation of the voter list with photographs in 2007-2008, the voter list has been updated six times before. The Election Commission has been conducting door-to-door updating activities in 2009-2010, 2012-2013, 2015-2016, 2017-2018, 2019-2020, and 2022-2023.
