The Crime Desk: The court has granted a four-day remand to former Satkania-Lohagara MP Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi in two separate cases of attempted murder and the Explosives Act of Satkania and Lohagara police stations. Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate Mominunnisa Khanam granted the remand yesterday. Earlier, the police had applied for a three-day remand in both cases. At that time, strict security measures were tightened in the court premises. District Court Inspector Md. Habibur Rahman confirmed this information to Azadi.
Court sources said that on November 19, 2023, on the occasion of the Dhaka hartal of like-minded parties, including BNP-Jamaat, leaders and activists of BNP, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal took out a procession in the Keranihat-Bandarban road area of Satkania, demanding a one-time demand for the fall of the government and the cancellation of the announced election schedule. They were attacked with iron rods and firearms. In addition, cocktail explosions and shots were fired. Many were injured in this incident. On October 8, a person named Md. Mostafizur Rahman filed a case under the Penal Code and Explosives Act.
Court sources also said that on August 5, during the anti-discrimination student movement in the Amirabad area of Lohagara, shooting and attacks occurred on students and the public. Many were injured in this incident. A person named Momen Hossain Joy filed a case as the plaintiff in this incident.
Incidentally, Abu Reza Mohammad Nezamuddin Nadvi was arrested from Uttara, Dhaka, on the night of December 15. He was later brought to Chittagong.
