Karnaphuli Correspondent: Police have arrested 13 people from a gambling den in Karnaphuli. They were arrested in a raid in the Moulvibazar area of the Charlakshya union of the upazila at around 8:15 pm on Monday (January 20).
Karnaphuli Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Sharif confirmed the arrest.
The arrested persons are Ali Abbas (24), Md. Raihan (20), Md. Arafat (19), Md. Nasir (20), Md. Touhid (19), Md. Sihan (22), Md. Sharif (19), Md. Nasir (43), Md. Sajjad (22), Abdul Hakim (19), Md. Sharif (20), Md. Meheraj (24), and Shiplak Shil (45) of Surya Shil’s house in the Charlakshya, Ratnapur area of Barisal. They are said to be working as laborers in a brick kiln in the area.
Police said that based on a secret tip-off, 13 people were arrested from a gambling den after conducting a raid at a residence in the Charlakshya Moulvibazar area of the upazila at night.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Karnaphuli Police Station Muhammad Sharif said that a case under the Gambling Act is being filed against them and sent to court.
