The Crime Desk: Chief Advisor to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, left for Switzerland on a four-day official visit to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

He left Dhaka for Davos, Switzerland, at 1 am on Monday (January 20).

The Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary, Shafiul Alam, said that an Emirates Airlines flight carrying Professor Yunus and his entourage left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1 am.

Earlier, at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, said, “During this visit, the Chief Advisor will participate in bilateral meetings with important people. These include the Chancellor of Germany, the Chancellor of Finland, the King of Belgium, and the Prime Minister of Thailand. In addition to these four heads of government and state, the chief advisor will meet with important people.”

The Deputy Press Secretary of the Chief Advisor said, “The most important aspect of this visit is that there will be a separate dialogue on ‘Bangladesh’ at the World Economic Forum conference. Many important business representatives or business leaders of the world, CEOs of several international organizations, will join this dialogue. Which is a very important and rare opportunity for Bangladesh. Only developed countries get the opportunity to have such dialogues at such a forum. Bangladesh has got this rare opportunity for the first time at the World Economic Forum conference.”

The Chief Advisor is scheduled to return to the country on January 25 after the visit.
In 1971, a Swiss professor named Klaus M. Schaab founded the World Economic Forum. Apart from organizing meetings, this organization encourages its members to work on various research reports and specific projects in different regions.

The organization’s meeting invites the world’s top business figures, international political leaders, renowned intellectuals, and journalists to discuss the most important issues related to global health and the environment today.
