A woman was seriously injured after being shot in Bandarban

Bandarban Correspondent: A woman named Umepru (34) Marma was seriously injured after being shot in Taracha Union of Rowangchhari Upazila in Bandarban. The cause of the shooting could not be confirmed.

The incident took place at 10:30 am on Monday (January 13) near Hemagree Para in Ward No. 8 of Taracha Union.

The seriously injured Umepru Marma is the eldest daughter of Chashipru Marma of the area and the wife of Romel Tanchagya of Karunapur Para in Balaghata, Bandarban.

The victim Marma’s younger brother, Kychingnung Marma, said that his sister Umepru had come to visit her father’s house from her husband’s house in Balaghata yesterday. In the morning, while going to the bean field near the neighborhood, she was shot in the left side of her body and fell to the ground. Hearing her screams, the people of the surrounding neighborhood rescued her and took her to Bandarban Sadar Hospital in a seriously injured condition. However, no one could provide any accurate information about who fired the shots.

Taracha Union Chairman Unumong Marma said that a Marma woman was shot in Khemagri Para this morning. She has been sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital. It is not known how she was shot.

Rowangchhari Police Station Subra Mukul Chowdhury said that a Marma woman was shot. After receiving primary treatment at Bandarban Sadar Hospital, she was sent to Chittagong Medical College for advanced treatment. Details will be known later.
