1 killed, 5 injured in bus-CNG collision in Chandpur

Chandpur Correspondent: Md. Tahim Hasan Fahim (12), the younger son of Kazi Monir Hossain, a former councilor of Hajiganj Municipality in Chandpur, was killed in a collision with a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw on the Chandpur-Jagatpur section of the Comilla Regional Highway in Chandpur. He, his wife, his elder son, his elder daughter-in-law, and 5 others, including the CNG driver, were injured. The incident took place in the Kumradugi area of Chandpur Sadar Upazila on Saturday (January 11) evening.

It is learned that Kazi Monir Hossain, a former councilor of Ward No. 7 of Hajiganj Municipality and a resident of Majumdar Bari in the Toragarh area, came to Chandpur from Dhaka by launch to return to his home. On the way to Hajiganj from Chandpur Launch Ghat on a CNG-powered scooter, a reckless bus of Aidee Paribahan hit the CNG-powered scooter on the Comilla-Chandpur regional highway in the Kumradugi area of Chandpur Sadar Upazila.

The CNG scooter was twisted and twisted. At that time, locals rushed to rescue Md. Tahim Hasan Fahim from the CNG, dead, and admitted the injured Kazi Monir Hossain, his wife, and son Hridoy to a private hospital in Hajiganj. At the same time, his daughter-in-law (son Hridoy’s wife) and the driver of the CNG were taken to Chandpur Sadar Hospital. Later, the daughter-in-law was referred to Dhaka in a seriously injured condition after receiving primary treatment.

Confirming the matter, Kazi Monir Hossain’s relative and coordinator of the vocational department of Hajiganj Government Model Pilot High School and College, Md. Zahirul Islam Majumder, said that Kazi Monir Hossain and 5 members of his family were returning home. Tahim died on the spot when he was hit by an IDI bus on the way. During this time, all of Kazi Monir’s family members and the CNG driver were injured.
His daughter-in-law has been sent to Dhaka.

Chandpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Bahar Mia said that the body of the deceased was recovered from the accident site and the bus and CNG involved in the accident have been taken into custody by the police station. He said that since there was no complaint and on the basis of a written application, the body of the deceased, Tahim Hasan, has been handed over to the family without an autopsy. Legal action will be taken in this regard later.
