The Crime Desk: If nomination business becomes a political business, then everything will be a sham, said the head of the Election Reform Commission, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder. He said that this nomination business cannot be stopped by making a law. For this, a change in the perspective of politicians is needed.
He made this comment at a national dialogue titled Unity, Reform, and Elections organized by the Forum for Bangladesh Studies (FBS) at the Krishibid Institution (KIB) in the capital on Friday (December 27) evening.
Badiul Alam Majumder said that if we want a democratic transition and change, we have to change our mindset. Along with this, the political culture also has to change. Political parties have to play an effective role in stopping nomination business. Apart from this, the young society must also come forward to stop it.
Stating that reform means change, the head of the Election Reform Commission said that we have to unite and change. We must ensure fair and impartial elections together. Even if the reform proposal becomes law, we must remember that the structure exists. That structure will not allow us to do that. Therefore, we must be vocal and protest and do what we can.
