The Crime Desk: Panchlaish Model Police Station has arrested a man named Mithun Chakraborty from Feni on charges of shooting at students and the public during an anti-discrimination movement.
On Monday (December 23), CMP sources confirmed that he was arrested from the Sultanpur area under the Feni Model Police Station yesterday afternoon. Arrested Mithun Chakraborty was the president of Chawkbazar Ward Swechhasebak League.
Mithun Chakraborty, who opened fire directly on students and the public during an anti-discrimination movement, has been arrested from Feni by Panchlaish Model Police Station.
Police said that on the afternoon of July 16, during the anti-discrimination student-public movement, Mithun Chakraborty, along with his other associates, formed an illegal mob on the road in front of the Chittagong Shopping Complex at Gate No. 2 of the Panchlaish Model Police Station in the name of preventing the students from participating in the movement. Armed with deadly weapons, they blocked the road, vandalized cars, and started shooting at ordinary students and the public with the intention of killing them.
The arrested accused is a known extortionist, illegal embezzler of government land, tendermaster, and a trusted associate of former councilor of Ward No. 16 of Chawkbazar, Nur Mustafa Tinu, who has been creating terror in the Katalganj and Chawkbazar areas under the Panchlaish Model Police Station. Mithun Chakraborty is the accused in a case registered in connection with the anti-discrimination movement of the CMP’s Panchlaish Model Police Station.
