Patia Correspondent: Patia Police Station has arrested a couple in love with 500 pieces of Yaba in Patia. They were arrested from a Dhaka-bound passenger bus at the head of Kharna Road in Patia Upazila on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway at 12:15 pm on Saturday (December 21).
Those arrested in this incident are Md. Javed (28), son of Md. Selim and Najma Akhter of PTI School, Ward No. 6, current address Lahar Para, Ward No. 1, Jhilonja UP area, and Anika Rahman (20), daughter of Nurul Islam and Momtaz Begum of the same area and wife of Nezam Uddin Rabbi.
Based on a secret tip-off that Yaba was being brought in a passenger bus, Patia Police Station set up a check post at the head of Kharna Road on the highway. At that time, the two suspected lovers were stopped on a passenger bus leaving from Cox’s Bazar and questioned, and they confessed to having Yaba. Later, their bodies were searched, and 300 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from Jabed’s pants pocket, and 200 pieces of Yaba tablets were specially hidden on Anika’s body.
Confirming the fact that the lovers were arrested with five hundred pieces of Yaba, Patiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Zayed Md. Nazmun Nur said that the two arrested were going to Dhaka with five hundred pieces of Yaba. Although they both have husbands, wives, and children, they introduced each other as lovers and said that they would get married.
He also said that after filing a case against the two arrested under the Narcotics Control Act, they have been sent to J-Hazmat through the court.
