Entertainment Desk: The names of seven auditoriums of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy are being changed. These include three auditoriums of the National Theatre.
Shilpakala Academy Director General Syed Jamil Ahmed announced the renaming at a function at the theatre on Friday (December 20) evening.
At the function, the Director General said, “The main auditorium of the National Theatre will be named Alaol Theatre, the Studio Theatre will be named Chandrabati Theatre, and the Experimental Theatre Hall is being renamed Selim Al Din Theatre.”
Focusing on the current social and political reality, the Shilpakala Academy’s Theatre and Film Department organized a stand-up comedy ‘Joker Nathiya’ at the Experimental Hall on Friday evening. The Director General of Shilpakala announced the renaming of the three auditoriums of the theater at this function.
Meanwhile, an unnamed academy source said that not only the three auditoriums of the National Theatre but also four other auditoriums of the Fine Arts Building and the Music, Recitation, and Dance Arts Building are being renamed. Among them, one auditorium of the Music, Recitation, and Dance Arts Building and another auditorium under construction have been named after world-renowned musician Ustad Alauddin Khan and mystic Shah Abdul Karim. In addition, the auditorium of the Fine Arts Building and another auditorium under construction have been named after painter S. M. Sultan and sculptor Novera Ahmed.
