Theft at mobile shop in Karnaphuli: Phone and laptop missing

Karnaphuli Correspondent: A theft has occurred at a mobile phone shop named Rahmania Telecom and Computer Resources in Karnaphuli. The theft occurred at 7:45 am on Saturday (December 21) at the shop in Nurplaza Market in the old Bridgeghat area of Charpatharghata in the upazila.

Market traders said that they saw the lock of the shop named Rahmania Telecom open around 9 am on Saturday. They thought that the owner or employees of the shop had entered the shop. Later, they came to know that the shop had been robbed. The shop owner’s house is in Ward No. 3 of Charpatharghata.

Rahmania Telecom owner Md. Saiful Islam said that after finishing the sale at night, they closed the shop and left. He came to the shop like every day this morning. When he came, he found the lock unlocked. Later, he lifted the shutter and went inside and saw that all the mobile phones, laptops, and cash were missing. Even the thieves took away the hard disk of one of the two CCTV footages.

He further said, “The thieves have taken away goods worth a total of 5-6 lakh taka, including 2 laptops, 25 mobile phones of different brands, and 2 lakh taka in cash from the shop. They are going to file a complaint with Karnaphuli Police Station in this regard.”

In this regard, Karnaphuli Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Sharif said, “No one has complained about the theft yet. If they do, legal action will be taken after collecting CCTV footage and reviewing it.”
