Own Correspondent: The International Anti-Corruption Day was celebrated in Lohagara Upazila of South Chittagong with the slogan: Unity of youth against corruption, building the purity of the future. The meeting was organized in the Upazila Conference Room on Monday morning, December 9.
The meeting was presided over by journalist Pushpen Chowdhury, vice president of the Lohagara Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee, and Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer UNO Muhammad Enamul Hasan was present as the chief guest. The flag was hoisted and peace doves were released with the national anthem. Later, an anti-corruption rally was taken out. In addition, a minute’s silence was observed in the meeting in memory of the heroic freedom fighters and those who died in the anti-discrimination movement.
The speakers at the meeting said that everyone should come forward to prevent corruption. If everyone fulfills their respective responsibilities properly, corruption will be reduced to a large extent. In addition, every government office should ensure that service seekers do not fall victim to corruption or harassment in any way. Work should be done to increase anti-corruption awareness among the students of every school. After the meeting, educational materials were distributed among the students of the school.
Among others, Lohagara Jamaat Ameer Professor Asad Ullah Islamabadi, Jamaat leaders Abul Kalam and Kazi Nurul Alam, Upazila BNP member secretary Sajjadur Rahman, BNP leader Abu Selim Chowdhury, Corruption Prevention Committee member secretary Master Mahabubur Rahman, Swapna Devi, and teachers from various schools were present at the time.
