Ambulance, two vehicles burnt in fire in Bandarban

Bandarban Correspondent: Two vehicles, including an ambulance, parked at the Lama Municipal Bus Terminal in the hill district of Bandarban, have been burnt to ashes in a sudden fire.

The incident took place at 5:30 am on Sunday (December 8). Upon receiving the information, a unit of the local fire service went to the spot and controlled the fire.

It is learned that the owner of the burnt ambulance is Md. Azgar, and the owner of the Noah vehicle is Dr. Nur Mohammad. However, the driver of the Noah vehicle was also Azgar.

The owner of the ambulance vehicle, Md. Azgar, said, I came at 3:40 am with a Cox’s Bazar patient and parked the vehicle at the Lama Municipal Bus Terminal. The fire broke out at approximately 5:30 am. However, no one was injured.

According to Lama Fire Service and local sources, an ambulance and a Noah car parked side by side at the municipal bus terminal caught fire at around 5:30 am. Seeing the fire burning, people in the vicinity rushed to inform the fire service. Later, the fire service went to the spot and tried for half an hour to bring the fire under control.

The ambulance was completely burnt in the fire, and the Noah car was partially burnt. Saleh Ahmed, owner of a TomTom garage at the municipal bus terminal, said, “At around 5 am, I was going to the mosque to recite the name of Fajr. At that time, I saw a fire from a distance next to the ambulance car. I thought someone was setting fire in the winter. When I returned from prayers, I saw the cars burning in flames.”

Lama Fire Service Station Officer Sakhawat Hossain said, “Two cars parked side by side at the Lama municipal bus terminal were burnt to ashes. No cause was known.” Lama Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Shahadat Hossain said that the scene has been inspected. An investigation is underway into how the two cars caught fire.
