Hathazari Correspondent: The upazila administration has fined a person named Md. Yusuf (65) one lakh taka under the Environment Act for the crime of building by filling a pond in Hathazari. The operation was conducted in Ward No. 2 of Mirzapur Union No. 3 of the upazila around 11 am on Friday.
Sources said that the upazila administration went to the spot based on a secret tip-off and found the pond filled. Later, after talking to local people and public representatives, the accused was identified, and the executive magistrate and assistant commissioner (land) of the mobile court, Lutfan Nahar Sharmin, fined the accused Yusuf one lakh taka and collected it through the DCR.
During the operation, Jannatul Ferdous, Senior Chemist of the Department of Environment, Chittagong, and a team of municipality officials and Hathazari Model Police Station cooperated. Mobile Court Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Lutfon Nahar Sharmin confirmed the authenticity of the operation to the media.
