Mirsarai Correspondent: Following the attack on a Jamaat-e-Islami workers’ rally in Mirsarai, there have been allegations of attack and vandalism on the house of Mirsarai Municipality Jubo Dal convener Kamrul Hasan. The attack took place at Kamrul’s residence in Ward No. 3 of Mirsarai Municipality on Saturday (November 30) evening.
Mirsarai Municipality Jubo Dal convener Kamrul Hasan said Jamaat-Shibir leaders had been threatening me and our leaders and activists since Friday night. Jamaat-Shibir held a protest march and rally on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mirsarai Municipality on Saturday afternoon in response to the incident on Friday evening. After the protest march and rally, Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists and former Awami League and Chhatra League leaders and activists vandalized my house in the evening.
The victims of the attack are Kamrul’s father Amir Hossain (75), his wife Marjina Akhter Khaleda (30), Zia Manch Mirsarai Municipality President Nahid Hossain, Mirsarai Municipality Jubo Dal former joint convener Md. Kamrul Islam, Jubo Dal activist Md. Zia Kamal, and Mirsarai College Chhatra Dal leader Md. Masum.
Meanwhile, allegations of an attack led by Jubo Dal leader Kamrul Hasan at a pre-scheduled general meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami were raised on Friday. The incident took place on Friday evening at the S Rahman School grounds in Ward No. 2 of Mirsarai Municipality. However, according to Kamrul, Jamaat was holding a meeting to rehabilitate some identified leaders and activists of the Jubo League and Awami League. In the wake of complaints from local Jubo Dal and BNP leaders and activists, he went to the spot and asked Shihab Uddin of Mirsarai Municipality Jamaat-e-Islami about this, but before he could understand anything, their leaders and activists attacked him.
Mirsarai Municipality Jamaat Ameer Md. Shihab Uddin said, on Friday afternoon, our workers’ rally at S Rahman Ideal School was attacked by Jubo Dal leader Kamrul Hasan on the charge of not taking permission from BNP. During this, 10 of our leaders and workers, including a journalist, were injured. We held a protest march on Saturday afternoon demanding the arrest of terrorists, including Kamrul. After the march, our workers left for their respective destinations. However, I do not know who attacked and vandalized Kamrul Hasan’s house on Saturday evening. I heard that he himself attacked his opponent’s people in the area and went door to door. He is trying to impose this on us.
Meanwhile, on Friday afternoon, Jamaat-e-Islami Mirsarai Municipality Jamaat Ameer Md. Shihab Uddin filed a case (No. 1) with Mirsarai Police Station on Sunday (December 1), naming Mirsarai Municipality Jubo Dal convener Kamrul Hasan as the main accused and naming 20 people.
