Boalkhali Correspondent: A gas cylinder explosion in Boalkhali at midnight burned seven houses. The affected families said that about 50 lakh taka of damage was caused.
The incident took place at around 3 am on Friday at the house of Khuilya Mia Chowdhury in Ward No. 3 of Bengura in Sarwatoli Union of the upazila.
The houses of Md. Russell, Jahedul Alam Rashed, Musa Chowdhury, Kulsuma Begum, Yusuf Chowdhury, Md. Hossain, and Md. Jahangir Alam were burned.
Locals said that after the fire broke out, the locals tried to put out the fire and informed the fire service. Later, two units of the fire service arrived and brought the fire under control. By then, everything in the seven families was burnt to ashes. Everyone left the house with only the clothes they were wearing. Everything, including the furniture, money, and gold ornaments, was burned.
The affected families said, “We came out in one piece after seeing the fire at night. We couldn’t find anything. We sat on the road.”
Acting station in charge of Boalkhali Fire Service Md. Saidur Rahman said, “After receiving the information around 3:30 am, two units reached the spot and worked for about two hours to bring the fire under control.”
