The Crime Desk: Three university students died after being electrocuted in a picnic bus in Sreepur, Gazipur. The accident occurred at around 10:30 am on Saturday (November 23) in Udaykhali village of Telihati union of the upazila.
The three deceased students are Mozammel Hossain Naeem (24), Mostakim Rahman Mahin (22) and Jobayer Alam Shakib (22).
It is learned that on Saturday morning, around 460 students of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Islamic University of Technology in the Board Bazar area of Gazipur metropolis planned to go to the Matir Maya Eco Resort in Uttar Pelaid village of Telihati union of the upazila in 6 BRTC double-decker buses and 3 microbuses.
When the buses were going from Dhaka-Mymensingh highway to the resort along the rural regional road, a BRTC double-decker bus came into contact with a rural power line when it reached Udaykhali Bazar in Uttar Pelaid village. At that time, the bus was electrified and several students were electrocuted. They were rescued and taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Deputy Director of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, Zakiul Islam, confirmed this information. He said all three have been brought to the hospital dead. The number of injured has not yet been confirmed. We are going to the emergency department.
