Pabna Correspondent: There has been a clash between two groups of BNP over dominance in Hemayetpur of Pabna Sadar. A member of the party named Jalal Uddin was killed. The incident took place on Saturday (16 November) morning in Betepara, adjacent to the psychiatric hospital of Hemayetpur Union of the upazila.
The police and locals said that for several days, there was a dispute between the former chairman of the union and district BNP member Muntaz Ali and the former general secretary of the union BNP, Abul Hashem Group. On Friday night, there was an argument between them about the Islamic Jalsa in the area. As a result, a clash took place between the two sides on Saturday morning.
Several people were injured in this incident. They were admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Among them, Jalal, an employee of Abul Hashem, was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as his condition was critical. But before reaching there, he died around 1 pm.
District BNP Member Secretary Advocate Masud Khandkar said that nothing is known about this yet.
Abdus Salam, OC of Pabna Sadar Police Station, said that the body was recovered and sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Police have been deployed to deal with the law and order situation.
