Unlicensed brick kilns were crushed in Roujan

Raujan Correspondent: A mobile court of the Department of Environment demolished four brick kilns in the Melua area of Dabua Union in Raujan. Executive Magistrate Faizunnecha Akhtar of the Environment Department conducted this operation from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Four brick kilns named M/s MR Chowdhury Bricks-1, DNC, MR Chowdhury Bricks-2, and M/s Bengal Bricks Company-2 were crushed in the operation. Besides, a brick kiln called JBI was fined 3 lakh taka. Army, RAB, Fire Service, and Thana Police assisted in the operation.

Ashraf Uddin, Assistant Director of Chittagong District Environment Department, Basas, said that four illegal brick kilns were completely crushed due to a lack of permission from the Environment Department, a 120-foot-high chimney of the brick kiln, the installation of the kiln near a rubber plantation, and a lack of permission from the Environment Department.

Mohammad Ibrahim, the owner of the JBL brick kiln, has been fined three lakh rupees for cutting hills. Executive Magistrate Faizunnessa Akhter of Environment Directorate Dhaka Office said that regular operations against illegal brick kilns will continue.
