The Crime Desk: The former senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mustafa Kamal Uddin, has been arrested by the Intelligence Department (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. He was arrested from Chittagong on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Media and Public Relations Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the matter.
He said, ‘Mustafa Kamal was arrested from Chittagong this morning with the help of CMP. He is being brought to Dhaka. ‘
There are cases against Mustafa Kamal in various police stations. However, the police officer could not confirm in which case he would be arrested.
Incidentally, Mustafa Kamal Uddin, an officer of the 1984 batch administration cadre, got the charge of the secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs on August 25, 2017. He was promoted to Senior Secretary on 16 September 2019.
After retiring from government service on January 12, 2023, Mustafa Kamal was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. He was removed from that post on August 19 after the change of power.
