Own Correspondent: The High Court has granted anticipatory bail to the senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, ZI Khan Panna, in the case of attempted murder by shooting and beating a person named Ahadul Islam during the anti-discrimination student movement.
A High Court bench led by Justice AKM Asaduzzaman passed the order on Monday (August 21). He will remain on bail until a police report is filed. After getting bail, ZI Khan Panna told reporters, “I have got bail, but my mouth and conscience will not be closed.”
Senior lawyers Ahsanul Karim, Ali Ahmed Khokon, Mohammad Shishir Monir, and Mohammad Hossain heard on behalf of ZI Khan Panna in court.
An anticipatory bail application was filed in a division bench of the High Court on Sunday (October 20). Earlier on Thursday (October 17), Ahadul’s father, Md, filed the attempted murder case at Khilgaon police station. Buck’s 180 people, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, have been accused in the case. ZI Khan Panna is accused number 94 of the case.
It has been mentioned in the statement of the case that on July 19, the plaintiff took part in the movement of the students and the public at Sukkur Ali Garment Junction in the west of Meradia Bazar in Khilgaon.
