Two buses collided head-on in Chandnaish

Chandnaish Correspondent: A head-on collision between two passenger buses in the opposite direction has taken place in Chandnaish. Nearly half a hundred passengers of the two buses narrowly escaped with their lives, but at least 10 passengers were seriously injured. The incident took place on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar national highway in the Hashimpur Barapara area of the upazila at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday.

According to local rescuers, a passenger bus of Chittagong-bound Eagle Paribahan collided head-on with another passenger bus of Kongbazar-bound Shah Amin Paribahan while overtaking a CNG in front. The Shah Amin bus fell into a puddle on the side of the road. The fronts of two buses were damaged. At least 10 passengers, including the driver, were seriously injured in the collision.

The injured were rescued and treated at Dohazari Hospital. Six names of the injured have been found. These are Shah Amin, the son of Pekuar Abu Yusuf, the bus driver. Alauddin (40), Amit Kumar Nath (20) of Dohazari Municipality of Chandnaish, Babul Nath (71) of Chakaria Harbang area, Mishu Dash (32) of Morfla area of Satkania, Russell Kantdash (42) of the same area, Bazaliar Md. Abu Naeem (53). Among them, Shah Amin bus driver Alauddin was sent to Chamek Hospital.

Khan Mohammad Erfan, officer-in-charge of Dohazari Highway Police Station, said that at 4:30 in the afternoon, two buses in the opposite direction collided head-on. A few passengers were injured, but there was no loss of life. The highway police seized two buses involved in the accident. Legal action in this regard is under process.
