The bank accounts of 11 people, including Summit Group Chairman Aziz Khan, were seized.

The Crime Desk: Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has seized the bank accounts of 11 people, including Aziz Khan, chairman of Summit Group, his wife, and his children. At the same time, the organization has instructed the banks and financial institutions to suspend all transactions as businesses owned by them. This information was revealed by BFIU sources on Monday (October 7).

Bank accounts of persons whose bank accounts have been seized: Summit Group Chairman Mohammad Aziz Khan, his wife Anjuman Aziz Khan, their daughters Ayesha Aziz Khan, Adiba Aziz Khan, and Aziza Aziz Khan; four brothers Lt Col (retd) Farooq Khan, Farid Khan, Latif Khan, and Zafar Ummed Khan; and brothers sons Faisal Karim Khan and Salman Khan. All of them are directors of Summit Group.

According to the instructions of BFIU, these persons and their owned businesses have been asked to stop all transactions. For the next 30 days, you will not be able to make any kind of transaction. If necessary, this period of suspending the transaction will be extended.

A BFIU official said that the accounts of Summit Group directors have been seized to investigate suspicious transactions as a bank.

BFIU’s letter said that relevant provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Rules will apply to this order to suspend transactions. Names of persons discussed in the letter and information on national identity cards are given.

The BFIU directive further states that the account-related information or documents, such as the account opening form, KYC, and transaction details of the accounts that have been suspended, should be sent to the BFIU within 2 working days from the date of issue of the letter.
