Dhaka Bureau: Jatiya Party will not do politics under anyone’s control. Jatiya Party Chairman and Deputy Leader of Opposition Gholam Mohammad Quader MP said this in the speech of the chief guest at the bi-annual conference of Jamalpur district Jatiya Party at Mirza Azam Auditorium in Jamalpur on Saturday (October 29) at noon.
He said, we will not do politics as someone’s servant or servant. In politics we can extend the hand of friendship, we can do politics as friends. In politics, the National Party will not be a slave to anyone.
Jamalpur District Jatiya Party convener Mustafa Al Mahmud was announced as president and member secretary Md Zakir Hossain Khan as general secretary and Kazi Khokon Khan as organizing secretary, Jatiya Party Chairman announced.
GM Quader said, We supported Awami League in 1996 because we did not want corruption, misrule, looting and building buildings. But Awami League came to power and wanted to create division in our party. Awami League wants to weaken us. So we did not support Awami League in 2001 elections. Again, in the interests of the country’s politics, we supported the Awami League in 2008 to establish democracy and prevent factionalism, tender-rigging and extortion. Awami League came to power again after 2008 and first wanted to make the Jatiya Party a branch organization. Then they wanted to make us servants, now they want to make us slaves in politics. We are not doing politics to be a servant of anyone. We are doing politics for the liberation of the country and its people. He said, the people of the country are with us.
He also said that a conspiracy has started to weaken the Jatiya Party again. Greed is trying to create brokers among us with lust. Torture-injustice has started against us. We will not bow down to any tyranny. People of the country trust us. People of the country want to trust us. No persecution can divert us from our goal. People of the country know that only Jatiya Party can give democracy and good governance in the country. Which Awami League and BNP could not give to the people of the country. He said, there is no democracy in the country. The people of the country cannot protest. The people of the country want freedom from such misrule. Because there is no democracy, there is no accountability anywhere in the country.
Jatiya Party Chairman said that the country is walking the path of Sri Lanka due to corruption and mismanagement. The country is becoming a failed state. IMF, World Bank and Asian Development Bank do not want to give us loans. Because, we have error as reserve. He said, even a year ago we had 48 billion dollars in reserves. Due to spending from reserves, our reserves now stand at 27 billion. 22 billion dollars in foreign debt will have to be repaid in interest and principal from next year. Hence, the country may face severe economic disaster from next year. The reserves have been used to invest in airport projects, Payara seaport, export development fund and investments in Sri Lanka. In fact, reserve money has been looted.
Golam Mohammad Quader also said that the people of the country are not well. 70 to 80 percent of the country’s people are starving and half-starved. Commodity prices are increasing every day. Factories are closing down and the number of unemployed is increasing. On the other hand, people’s income has not increased at all. There is no one to see the suffering of the people of the country.
Jatiya Party Chairman also said that West Pakistan created discrimination with the people of our country. And from that discrimination our great freedom struggle took place. But since 1990, Awami League and BNP have created discrimination with the people of the country. Businesses, jobs and all facilities for those who will be in state power. But there is no opportunity for common people of the country. Common people don’t have money, they can’t run their families. On the other hand, a class of the country has so much money, there is no place to keep money in their country. They are smuggling thousands of crores of rupees abroad. While thousands of crores of rupees are being spent in the name of mega projects, in one year only 4 lakh crores of rupees have been smuggled from Bangladesh to Swiss banks.
Jatiya Party Senior Co-Chairman Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud MP said that fair elections should be held. Democratic institutions should be strengthened. Democracy cannot be curtailed in the name of development. We want development and we also want democracy. Addressing the Election Commission, you could not conduct an election properly, then how will you conduct elections in three hundred seats? Police and public servants must act impartially. He called upon the leaders and workers to strengthen the Jatiya Party within 15 months.
Jatiya Party Secretary General Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu MP said, BNP complains that Awami League is obstructing their general assembly. It is sad and against democratic rights. BNP is the first in the country to undermine the democratic rights of people. From 1991 to 1996, the Jatiya Party could not hold any meetings due to BNP attacks.
Co-Chairman Syed Abu Hossain Babla MP said, Awami League and BNP have established corruption and misrule in the country. He said that thousands of crores of money should be brought back. He said that the National Party is the controlling force of the country’s politics. No one can form government in Bangladesh except Jatiya Party.
