The Crime Desk: There have been incidents of processions with black flags emblazoned with Kalema in different places, including the capital Dhaka, demanding an end to genocide in Palestine, taunting of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), and Islamic Caliphate. But some have claimed that this flag belongs to the Islamic militant group. On the other hand, this may have been done at the instigation of a political party. On the other hand, law and order forces have said that those who are marching with black flags are members of the banned organization Hizb ut Tahrir.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mainul Hasan said Hizbut Tahrir is a banned organization. Because of this, they cannot enter the field freely. So trying to get off in a hurry. Our operation against them is going on.

In a video posted by a journalist on social media, it was seen that school-college students are marching in front of Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan in Dhaka on Sunday (October 6) with black ink-stained flags. The procession was taken out under the banner of ‘Conscious Teachers and Students, St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School’. In the procession, the students carried the flag written in black Kalema, along with the flag of Bangladesh and the flag of Palestine. The banner of the procession read, Protest against the taunting of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by an Indian priest. In addition, slogans were heard in that procession: “One way of liberation, Khilafat-Khilafat,”  “You are who I am; Muslim is Muslim.” Besides, last week students of Dhaka’s Notre Dame College, Dhaka College, and Wills Little Flower School were seen taking out separate processions. They had similar flags in their hands in the procession.

On the other hand, a video circulating on social media showed that a procession took out from the Kishoreganj Martyr Mosque under the banner of ‘Tawhidi Jantar’ in Kishoreganj last Friday. Apart from protesting the taunts of the Prophet, some in the procession were demanding the establishment of an Islamic caliphate. However, the locals said that some outsiders entered the procession; some of them were wearing black flags and colorful mufflers around their necks. Meanwhile, Fact Checker Kadruddin Shishir said on Facebook after verifying the information in the video that on that day the flag was flown in harmony with the alleged Islamic State, or ‘ISIS’.

Dhaka University teacher Shafi Md. Mustafa said, “I see the so-called Islamic State or ‘Isis’ group using the black flag. Therefore, if Bangladesh uses this type of flag now, there will be a possibility of being subjected to a kind of tagging.

Head of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit. Masud Karim said we are closely monitoring this matter. We are also investigating who may be involved. Besides, some people are being interrogated. There are many whom we have kept under watch.

DMP Commissioner Mainul Hasan said, after being in hiding in different ways for so long, now they are trying to come to the field. We are also confirming our legal system. However, to resist these organizations, ordinary people must also come forward. Source: BBC Bangla
