According to the allocation, after the completion of the tender process of Hajikhil Road, the construction work of this road of public importance under LGED is supposed to start, but due to unknown reasons, the contractor company started the carpeting work on a road inside the Udalia tea garden. After learning about the matter, the local residents filed a written complaint with the District Engineer, Supervising Engineer, and Upazila Executive Officer, requesting to stop the construction work inside the garden.
Yesterday morning, hundreds of people from the area came down to the streets and protested against the attempt to build the internal road of Bagan under the development allocation of the neglected Hajikhil road ID (415334007). Mohiuddin, a local resident and former member of UP. Abu Syed said the Hajirkhil road is very old. This area is also very neglected. After a long time, the Udalia Garden authorities tried to develop a road inside the garden even though the road was allotted. We protest it. Md. Azgar and Md. Shahed said, I strongly condemn the construction of a road inside the garden in the allocation for the development of Hajirkhil Road.
When asked about this, Upazila Assistant Engineer Abdus Salam said that Bagan authorities took up the construction work of Hajirkhil Road after lobbying. Meanwhile, in view of the demands of the local residents, Mejbah Uddin, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Administrator of Suabil Union, visited the Hajikhil road on Thursday afternoon. At that time, he said, the road is completely impassable. It needs to be constructed urgently. The necessary measures will be taken in this regard.
In this regard, Udalia tea garden manager Nadeem Hossain said that the garden road also needs to be developed. The demand of local residents is also reasonable. When asked, Upazila Engineer Tanmoy Nath said that due to the complaints of Hajikhil residents, the work of the road inside the garden has now been stopped; further measures will be taken after talking to the higher authorities.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mozammel Haque Chowdhury said that an investigation committee has been formed in view of the complaints of local residents. Necessary action will be taken subject to investigation.
