Former President Badruddoza Chowdhury is no more

The Crime Desk: Former President Professor Dr. who was admitted to the hospital with a lung infection. AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury passed away. She died on Friday at 3:15 pm while undergoing treatment at Uttara Mahila Medical College Hospital established by herself.

Badruddoza Chowdhury’s press secretary, Jahangir Alam, confirmed this information. Besides, son Mahi B. Chowdhury confirmed the death by posting on his Facebook ID.

Badruddoja Chowdhury was 94 years old. He is survived by his wife, one son, two daughters, and numerous grandchildren.

Badruddoza Chowdhury was admitted to Uttara Mahila Medical College Hospital on the morning of October 2 due to a lung infection. That day, his daughter, Dr. Shayla Chowdhury, said that her father was already suffering from ischemic heart disease.

On Thursday night, his son Mahi B Chowdhury informed him that he was put on life support. He asked countrymen for prayers for his father.

Renowned doctor and veteran politician Badruddoza Chowdhury was born on October 11, 1930, in Nanabari (famous Munsef Bari) in Comilla City. His home is Majidpur Dayahata of Srinagar Upazila of Munshiganj. His father, Advocate Kofil Uddin Chowdhury, was Vice President of Krishak Praja Party, General Secretary of United Front, and a member of the then East Pakistan Provincial Cabinet.

B. Chowdhury started politics in 1978 at the request of late President Major General Ziaur Rahman. He was first elected Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Munshiganj, in 1979 and served as a Cabinet Minister. He was elected Member of Parliament for the second time in 1991 and became first Minister of Education and then Deputy Leader of Parliament. In 1996, he served as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. He was finally re-elected as a Member of Parliament in 2001 and was the Foreign Minister of the BNP government from October to November of the same year.

Professor AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury was elected President of Bangladesh on November 14, 2001. He resigned from the post of president on June 21, 2002, due to political reasons.

May 8, 2004: B. Chowdhury founded a political party called Alternative Bangladesh. He was currently serving as the party’s president.

His wife’s name is Hasina Warda Chowdhury. Professor Chowdhury is the father of two daughters and one son. His elder daughter, Muna Chowdhury, is a barrister by profession. Younger daughter Shayla Chowdhury is a doctor by profession and teaches at Uttara Mahila Medical College in Dhaka. The only son of Mahi B. Chowdhury is a politician.
