Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Joint forces arrested Nashir Uddin, alias Dakat Nashir (38), the mastermind of the murder of Lt. Tanzim and directly involved in the murder. Nashir and his accomplice Enamul Haque were arrested in a raid at Madhyam Kaharia Ghona area of the Chakaria upazila at 5 am on Friday. Two firearms and three rounds of ammunition were recovered from them during the operation. Besides, in the initial interrogation Nashir stated the reason for the murder.
The arrested accused are Nashir Uddin (38) of Dumkhali area of the Khakaria Police Station of Cox’s Bazar and Enamul Haque (50), resident of Maiz Para.
According to the sources of the joint forces, on September 23, Lt. Tanzim caught Nashir armed in an operation. 2-3 more dacoits attack Tanjim to release Nashir, but he bravely resists them and captures Nashir. At one point, Nashi took a chance and placed a knife on Tanjim’s throat, as a result of which he died on the spot.
After the murder, Nashir and Enamul hid in different places and planned to escape abroad by sea. However, on the basis of secret information, the joint forces were able to conduct a raid the night of September 27 and arrest them.
RAB-15: Additional Superintendent of Police. Anwar Hossain Shamim said Nashir was found hiding in his mother-in-law’s house at Kaharia Ghona of Chakaria municipality. He kept the mobile phone battery away to avoid law enforcement surveillance and tried to fake his identity after being caught.
He also said that in the initial interrogation, Nashir confessed to the planned murder of Tanjim. The objective was to create fear among the law enforcement agencies to disrupt the ongoing operations. The arrested have been handed over to the Chakaria police station.
