Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Three CNG (autorickshaws) were stopped on the Hoikang-Shamlapur road in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, looted, and 8 persons, including the driver, were kidnapped by a group of robbers. Later, with the help of the police, the local crowd rescued 3 drivers and 1 passenger.
The remaining 4 passengers were abducted by a group of robbers and taken to the barren hills. The identity of the robbers was not immediately available. The incident took place on Friday (September 27) evening at a place called Kudum Guha on the Teknaf Huaikong-Shamlapur road. Abdur Rahim of the Shamlapur Bazar CNG Association (Line Director) said this.
He said that on Friday evening, three CNGs with passengers going to Shamlapur from Hoikang Bazar reached the place called Kudum Guha, and a band of armed robbers stopped the CNGs and abducted 8 people, including the driver. After receiving information about this incident, the local people and the police of Baharchhara Investigation Center conducted an operation in the Kudum cave area and managed to rescue 4 people, including the driver. The remaining 4 passengers were taken by the gang of dacoits inside the barren hills.
In this regard, Police Inspector Samiur Rahman, in charge of the Baharchhara Investigation Center, said that three CNG vehicles, including passengers going to Shamlapur, were seized by robbers at a place called Kudum Guha. After receiving the news, 4 people were rescued immediately after reaching the spot, but it was not possible to rescue the remaining 4 passengers as it was late at night. However, efforts are being made to rescue them.
